A small island contains a stand of old growth black cottonwood that provide habitat for many birds. The park was created in May 1981 through the efforts and wishes of the Donna and Wilbert Anderson of Nelson, B.C. and is named after William Adolf Baillie Grohman… a Kootenay pioneer.
